They are a little bit hard at first, so you have to sit them in your mouth for a couple seconds and they soften up. Some of you might remember differences in color (apple used to be totally green, now its kind of light green or yellow), but the variation apparently is from the food coloring when the manufacturer produces them. According to the importer it doesn't change the flavor at all, and I haven't noticed it either.
